About the artist…

My name is Mackenzie Fenton Silk, I called my little illustration business after my middle name because as an old family name it holds special meaning to me. I think it’s beautiful and unique and I feel proud to have a name from my great great grandparents. That’s what life is really about, finding that special meaning or that silver lining, finding the joy in everyday things. The world can be a harsh place, filled with monotony and sometimes drudgery. In my little watercolor paintings and sketches, I let my imagination play with what comes onto the page, I never take it too seriously. The world is too full of serious things already, why not fill it with beautiful things when you can? I’ve thought for a long time about what the purpose of my art is, some artists want to evoke thought and conversation. But I’ve come to find that all I want my art to do is bring a little bit of joy and whimsy to whoever is looking at it! I paint beautiful things that make me feel like I’m creating beauty to share with the world. I’ve found inspiration from so many things around me, but a few things capture my attention the most. Finding the beauty in each of New England’s seasons, the classic styles of vintage fashion and lots and lots of oversized flowers. You might notice a theme, that oversized flowers show up a lot in my drawings and paintings.
